Kevin McLaughlin is returning to the National Republican Senatorial Committee as its new executive director, Chairman Todd Young announced Friday.
McLaughlin was the committee’s deputy executive director for the 2016 cycle, when Young was elected to the Senate in Indiana, and he served as a senior adviser in the 2014 cycle. Like 2016, Republicans are largely on defense in 2020. Twenty-two GOP senators are up for re-election compared to 12 Democrats.
“As a senior advisor for the NRSC in the 2014 cycle, Kevin spearheaded strategies that won Republicans the Senate Majority; in 2016, he played a leadership role on the team that successfully defended it,” Young said in a statement.
Young also announced that two fundraisers, Anna Rogers Duncan and Brittney Godoy, whose firm assisted Young’s 2016 campaign will lead the NRSC’s finance team. Duncan was the national finance director for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign. Godoy was deputy director of the NRSC’s finance team in 2014, and has also served as the finance director for Republican outside groups including American Crossroads, Crossroads GPS, Senate Leadership Fund and One Nation.
